6:30 pm & 7:00 pm: City Market Catacombs Tour
Indianapolis City Market and Indiana Landmarks in partnership with the NITE Ride stage tours of an unusual site hidden from public view. Our guided tour of the Catacombs shows NITE Ride participants a Roman-looking expanse of brick arches beneath the outdoor Whistler Plaza of City Market. The Catacombs qualify as both a ruin and redevelopment opportunity. They’re what remains of Tomlinson Hall, an imposing building whose main hall seated 3,500 people. Tomlinson Hall burned in January 1958, turning Market Street into an icy lake as firefighters battled the blaze and the city took down the remains later that year. Only the Catacombs remain… and this tour offers a rare glimpse into the brick barrel-vaulted arches that remain from what was the basement of Tomlinson Hall.
The Indiana Landmarks Center is offering 30-minute guided tours of the Catacombs at 6:30pm and 7:00 pm. The $12 tickets are extremely limited and must be purchased in advance. Register here before tickets are gone!

The first presentation will include an optional dinner-ride with the instructors that is separate from the typical dinner ride. The second will be a little closer to the N.I.T.E. Ride and will again emphasize safe riding with traffic. More information will be available during check-in at the N.I.T.E. Ride on these sessions.
