What does N.I.T.E. Ride stand for?

What is the N.I.T.E. Ride?
The N.I.T.E. Ride is a full day of activities culminating in a 20 mile night time bicycle tour on well-lit roads through downtown Indianapolis beginning and ending at the Indianapolis City Market. After the tour a celebration is held with food and music. See the Info Sheet for additional details and activities.

When is the N.I.T.E. Ride?

Where is the N.I.T.E. Ride?
While the N.I.T.E. Ride has had many different homes over the years, our participants have told us they like having the event downtown. For 2017, we’re excited to have the event at the Indianapolis City Market (indycm.com) at 222 East Market Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204.

How do I get to the Indianapolis City Market?

Where should I park?
Having the event at a downtown location means limited parking options. We encourage participants to carpool or ride their bikes to the event. Parking options will be available in June and communicated to participants as well as being available on our website.

Are lights and helmets required?
Yes!

Do I need a confirmation number or letter?
No. Registration is by name, not by number. You do not need to bring a confirmation letter to receive your T-shirt and registration packet.

How much does the N.I.T.E. Ride cost?
Visit our registration page for information on cost and to register. We kindly ask all participants to register online, but mail-in applications will be accepted.

How late can I register?
While there is no deadline to register, we are limited to the number of participants and expect to sell out this year! Participants who register (if registration is still available) after June 28th will not receive a complimentary limited edition N.I.T.E. Ride t-shirt. If registration options still exist, you may sign up online up until 9pm the day of the event. We will also accept walk-up registration on the day of the event, if we aren’t sold out!!

May I just register the day of the event?
Yes, subject to availability. We expect the event to sell out, and it’s possible there may be few or no registrations still available by the date of the event. We recommend that you pre-register to make sure you aren’t left out!

I’m pre-registered. Can someone else pick up my registration packet and T-shirt?
Yes. We will have pick up options the day before the event available. You may have someone else pick up your packet, but you will need to make sure they have a copy of your registration confirmation email. More details will be sent to registered participants closer to the event date.

I pre-registered via the website but didn’t receive a Confirmation Letter.
You do not need one. You would have received “confirmation screen” while at the registration website and a separate confirmation e-mail message. (You are not required to bring copies of these to the event.) Both of these contain links to our event HomePage, from where you may download an Information Sheet containing information equivalent to the Confirmation Letter that is returned to mail-in registrants who provide us with a self-addressed stamped #10-size envelope.

May I cancel my pre-registration?
We generally are not able to process cancellations. However, you may transfer your registration to another participant without notice to us. Simply have the other participant report to our “Day of Event Registration” station, fill out an application, and receive your registration materials. It’s possible, but not likely, that we will be able to accommodate T-shirt size changes in such cases.

I’ve already pre-registered but would like to add to my order. Is this possible?
Apologies, but due to data management issues we are not able to adjust pre-registration information. A limited supply of all sizes of T-shirts and sweatshirts will be on sale at the event. We can also place an order for you and mail your purchase to your home after the event.

Are riders 18 or younger allowed to ride? Yes. For safety of all participants and to ensure compliance with Indiana Curfew Laws, a riding parent or legal guardian must accompany riders between 16 and 18 years of age. Participants under 16 must be on the same bike (a tandem or Trail-A-Bike) with their parent or legal guardian. Registration for riders under 18 require consent by a parent or legal guardian.

Why are riders less than 16 years old not allowed to ride on their own? My child is a competent bicyclist and has been riding for many years.
This restriction is necessary due to Indianapolis curfew laws, as well as being in the interest of participant safety. We realize this causes some younger but quite capable bicycling enthusiasts to be excluded. We encourage younger bicyclists to take part in the morning Club Ride and the Dinner Ride.

Do I have to ride a particular type of bicycle? I prefer riding my mountain bike.
Any type of bicycle, as long as it is safe working order, maybe used. The only stipulations are you must use a headlight (we also recommend using a taillight) and wear a helmet.
